Sven Kratz is a 2010 research intern in the Applied Sciences Group (ASG) at Microsoft.

He is pursuing his Ph.D. studies at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) München in Munich, Germany, where he is also a assistant working for the Mobile Interaction Lab at the Department for Informatics.  His primary research focus is sensor-based mobile interfaces that allow for novel types of interaction.  This includes gesture recognition, interaction based on distance sensing and pressure, tabletop applications for mobile devices and optical tracking technologies.  Sven also conducts research into mobile interfaces providing efficient navigation of large information spaces such as maps or 3D environments.  he received his degree in computer science from RWTH Aachen, Germany, in 2007.

In his free time, Sven enjoys sailing, tennis and travelling.
