Xiaoyan Hu is a researcher and engineer in Microsoft’s Applied Sciences Group (ASG) focusing on geometric computer-vision topics such as stereo matching, surface reconstruction, SLAM, and differential geometry.

He began is career in with ASG, in 2013, working on stereo and volumetric reconstruction systems for various augmented-reality platforms.  He followed this with four years building perception systems for self-driving cars at Uber’s Advanced Technology Group in Pittsburgh, Pa., and at Argo AI in Palo Alto, Calif., before coming back to Microsoft and ASG in 2020.

In his free time Xiaoyan enjoys kayaking and hiking.
