The goal of this research project was to build an application that can map an arbitrary input to an arbitrary output, enabling you to set up actions across your devices that happen automatically when triggered by events that you define.

The result is Mayhem, a freely available open-source Windows application. Just select an event (for example, your favorite stock hit a trigger value; a change in the weather; or a trigger word you say to your Kinect) and then select a reaction (such as advancing a PowerPoint slide, turning on a lamp, or starting a movie). Within seconds, you have a connection running.
