Ayyoob Imani is a research intern in Microsoft’s Applied Sciences Group (ASG).
He is a third-year Ph.D. student under the guidance of Professor Hinrich Schuetze at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. His primary research interests lie in models for very low-resource languages and the parameter efficiency of large language models.
Ayyoob has conducted research on the applications of multilingual large language models for low-resource languages, representation learning, and cross-lingual transfer. He has explored the potential of high-resource language representations to boost the performance of downstream tasks in low-resource languages. Furthermore, he has delved into understanding how the synergy of having (a minimal amount of) data across various languages can foster a deeper comprehension of each language. Ayyoob is presently investigating methods to enhance the efficiency and interpretability of multilingual models.
