Daniele Giunchi
Research Intern (2021)
Daniele Giunchi is 2021 research intern in the Applied Sciences Group (ASG) at Microsoft.
He is also a research assistant in the Department of Computer Science at University College, London (UCL). Daniele’s research focus is on machine-learning algorithms applied to the visual pipeline for content creation. In particular, he studies deep-learning algorithms applied to advanced interaction (sketches in virtual reality) and visual perception for image-quality assessment. Daniele was a Marie Curie Fellow in the DISTRO Innovative Training Network (ITN) from 2016 to 2018.
While pursuing his Ph.D. he has worked with industrial companies such as SCS-CINECA (2005-2013) and Italian aerospace company Leonardo, S.p.A. (2014-2015). He has published articles about computer graphics, human-computer interaction (HCI), and information retrieval.
Daniele’s first love is astronomy. His hobbies include martial arts (even if he stopped practicing a few years ago), watching Numberphile’s videos, and visiting museums. He cannot say no to a chocolate cake.
