Language Packs for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition

Language packs enable creation of sites and site collections in multiple languages without requiring separate installations of SharePoint Server Subscription Edition.

    Language packs enable creation of sites and site collections in multiple languages without requiring separate installations of SharePoint Server Subscription Edition. Multiple language packs can be installed on the same server. Application of a language pack will not change the language of the installed Microsoft Server product, or the language of the administrative features.

    Note: You do not need to download a language pack for the language you installed. These language packs are to support creation of additional languages.

  • To start the download:
    1. Select the desired installation language from the available choices in the Select Language drop-down list.
    2. Click the Download button.
    3. If prompted, click Save to copy the disc image file to your computer.

    To install the Language Pack for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition on Windows Server with Desktop Experience:
    1. Mount the ISO disc image as a drive on your computer by double clicking on it, or by specifying it as a virtual drive in your virtual machine manager.
    2. Navigate to the mounted drive and run setup.exe to launch the language pack setup program.
    3. On the Read the Microsoft Software License Terms page, review the terms, select the I accept the terms of this agreement checkbox, and then click Continue.
    4. The setup wizard runs and installs the language pack.
    5. Run the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard using the default settings.

      Note: If you do not run the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard after you install a language pack, the language pack will not be installed properly.
    To run the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard:
    1. Click Start, click Microsoft SharePoint Products, and then click SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard.
    2. On the Welcome to SharePoint Products page, click Next.
    3. Click Yes in the dialog box that alerts you that some services might need to be restarted during configuration.
    4. If the Modify Server Farm Settings page appears, click Do not disconnect from this server farm, and then click Next.
    5. If the Modify SharePoint Central Administration Web Application Settings page appears, do not modify any of the default settings, and then click Next.
    6. If the Completing the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard page appears, click Next.
    7. On the Configuration Successful page, click Finish.

    To install the Language Pack for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition on Windows Server Core:
    1. Mount the ISO disc image as a drive on your computer by using the Mount-DiskImage cmdlet, or by specifying it as a virtual drive in your virtual machine manager.

      For example: Mount-DiskImage -ImagePath "C:\SharePoint Files\ServerLanguagePack.iso"

    2. Run Language Pack for SharePoint and Project Server Subscription Edition Setup (setup.exe) on your computer in command line mode. This is done by adding the following command line parameters when launching setup.exe:
    • /config <config file> (Where <config file> is the path to the "\Files\SetupSilent\config.xml" file on your mounted drive.)
    • /IAcceptTheLicenseTerms (Specifying this parameter signifies that you have read, understand, and agree to the license terms of Language Pack for SharePoint and Project Server Subscription Edition.)
              For example: D:\setup.exe /config "D:\Files\SetupSilent\config.xml" /IAcceptTheLicenseTerms
    1. Once Language Pack for SharePoint and Project Server Server Subscription Edition Setup has completed, reboot your computer.
    2. Run Install-SPHelpCollection -All.
    3. Run Initialize-SPResourceSecurity.
    4. Run Install-SPService.
    5. Run Install-SPFeature -AllExistingFeatures.
    6. Run Install-SPApplicationContent.

    To remove a language pack for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition:
    1. On the Start menu, click Control Panel.
    2. Click Uninstall a program.
    3. In the list of currently installed programs, select Language Pack for SharePoint and Project Server Subscription Edition - [Language] and then click Uninstall.
    4. Click Yes to confirm that you want to remove the program.
    5. Click OK in the dialog box alerting you that this might result in partial loss of functionality for sites that depend on this language pack.
    6. After the language pack has been successfully uninstalled, click Close.
