I started at Microsoft Canada as a Customer Success Account Manager, fresh out of my MBA in July 2021. Starting a new job in a hybrid workplace was entirely new to me. I was fortunate to join an incredible team who welcomed me with open arms-shout out to Enterprise Commercial East. I was surprised by the immediate deep connection I felt to my team, Microsoft’s corporate culture, and how empowered I felt to achieve my personal and professional goals.

I’ve realized that it’s not just the team that fosters a culture of acceptance, but that each person has the responsibility to build the company culture. What I love most about Microsoft is its culture of acceptance and how it strives to help you realize your potential. I want to feel welcomed with my passions when I come into work, and to me, Microsoft is a platform to realize my potential. I was fortunate to grow-up in Ivory Coast. Values like generosity, inclusiveness and helping others are core to my culture. I see many of those values inside Microsoft and as an employee, I can contribute and build on the work of others to enable more people and organizations to realize their own ambitions and reach their goals.

"Every day, Microsoft encourages me to be my authentic self and come to work with my passions."

Passion for me is maintaining balance between my personal and professional goals and prioritizing the things that matter the most, like meditation and helping others.

Fun Fact: When I was applying to the Microsoft Aspire program, I was asked to deliver a presentation on something I was passionate about. I chose meditation; why it’s important to me, and how it’s become a huge part of my personal wellness routine. I wanted to stay true to what’s important to me in my interview, and the interviewers saw value in my passion, which translated into my full-time role.

I’ve undergone much self-reflection to determine who I am and where I want to go in my career. I started thinking about new habits and my goals in life and split these goals into 3 main pillars: personal finance, health, and personal development. I write my habits and goals down and review them every day to make sure I mark my progress and celebrate small milestones. Everything I do connects back to these pillars so I can ensure I stay true to myself and what is important to me.

My advice to anyone starting a new career or even just exploring what they want to do in life, is to take the time to reflect on what is most important to you, get to know yourself, your goals and harness your passions. From there, seek out the people and organizations that you feel most connected to and have the confidence that you can accomplish anything!
