As we move through the new world of work, there have been – and continue to be - significant changes to the way that communication plays a role in an organization, both internally and externally. Today, communication teams serve to empower an organization and its employees, creating communities and platforms to connect and cultivate a corporate culture.

We have seen, firsthand, that innovation plays an integral role in how we interact and connect with each other in a digital world. Communications teams are providing tools and platforms for our employees to communicate, access information and ultimately, feel empowered in the work that they do. We needed the right technology to help us achieve our goals.

We started a digital transformation over the last 18 months using Microsoft’s digital platforms – Microsoft Viva, Yammer, SharePoint and Microsoft Teams – to support employee engagement and improve the ability for employees to authentically connect, communicate, and engage within our business. Our goal was to foster connection and further our corporate culture at a time when there was a lot of change and uncertainty. We built a communications strategy to modernize our workplace – allowing employees to be advocates, create connections with one another in new ways, and ultimately, build a community we hadn’t experienced in a truly digital world. Change can be a hurdle, and we went into this with a learn-as- you-go approach. As more employees started to engage and we gathered feedback on our new platforms, we began to see the true value of our goals. With the concept of,

we all belong here, we saw employees develop a renewed sense of belonging to the organization. Our employees were able to interact with each other and new teams in ways that weren’t possible before a hybrid working environment. As a result, we saw a quantitative impact in an employee survey of which 89% of respondents felt engaged in our brand re-imagination journey.

"Innovation extends beyond technological advances and provides an ability to authentically connect, empower teams and achieve more."

At connectFirst, we want to build an environment where everyone feels they belong. This started with our employees and ensuring everyone has access to tools and platforms to share our voice and participate in our corporate communities. We are excited by the results we’re seeing, but moreover, in the transformation and the culture we’ve been creating for the people that belong to connectFirst.
