Continuing the storyline from last season's finale, when Jennifer Lopez sang at Karen's (Megan Mullally) wedding, the season premiere finds Lopez back in New York after concluding her concert tour. But Lopez can't seem to escape Karen, who recruits Jack (Sean Hayes) to convince the singer to listen to Karen's newly written song, "I Hurt, Too." Meanwhile, Grace (Debra Messing) takes out her frustrations over her cheating husband Leo (Harry Connick, Jr.) on a beat-up Will (Eric McCormack).

Grace (Debra Messing) runs into Vince shopping and notices that he has bought Will a key chain - in the hopes of giving Will the key to his heart or apartment. Meanwhile, Jack (Sean Hayes) and Karen (Megan Mullally) commission an artist to draw Will naked for his birthday. Karen also learns that she is not quite over Stan when Rosario (Shelley Morrison) serenades Will with one of Stan's favorite songs.
