This event is happening as part of the Viva Tech Fair, 2023 Edition in Paris at Expo Porte de Versailles.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming our world in significant ways. From chatbots that help us with customer service to self-driving cars, AI is rapidly changing the way we live and work. Our Franco-German roundtable on AI will kickstart a timely discussion among key national policymakers, industry, academia, and civil society stakeholders with the aim of exploring the technical structures needed to ensure responsible and trustworthy AI in Europe. These include regulatory structures, as well as governance and enforcement rules which will form part of the EU’s future flagship AI Act. Among such rules and requirements to be brought under the spotlight by our national stakeholders are: transparency obligations, high-risk requirements, guidelines and responsibilities for different players along AI value chains, ex-ante conformity assessments, regulatory sandboxes, standardization rules and future compliance with EU AI bodies and Member State AI authorities, plus more All the above, among other elements, will be assessed to determine how successful the EU’s upcoming rulebook is, or can be, in achieving the rollout of AI across Europe in a manner which guarantees ensure fairness, reliability and safety, privacy and security, inclusiveness, transparency and accountability – while ensuring Europe stands to prosper from the many advantages and benefits AI can deliver in the coming decades. This roundtable will also discuss the role of AI and its potential to revolutionize industries, from healthcare to finance manufacturing as well as address some of the most pressing social and environmental challenges.
