Microsoft .NET Framework Client Profile Online Installer

The Microsoft .NET Framework Client Profile Online Installer contains the subset of features and functionality needed for the installation and distribution of .NET Framework Client Profile over an internet connection. The subset of features contained in the Microsoft .NET Framework Client Profile are:

• Common Language Runtime


• ClickOnce


• Windows Forms


• Windows Presentation Foundation


• Windows Communication Foundation

The .NET Framework Client Profile enables:

• Faster installation of .NET Framework components


• Automatic updates for computers that have parts of the .NET Framework installed


• Integrated deployment of client applications with the .NET Framework Client Profile


• Customizable deployment of client applications when deployed using the Client Profile

The .NET Framework Client Profile Online Installer will enable developers to create a deployment experience for users that are able to install their applications over the internet. The download package contains the .NET Framework Client Profile web installer. Once downloaded, the web installer will then will download the needed components from the internet. If the platform on which the end-user is installing the Client Profile, is not directly supported, the full .NET Framework will be installed. Supported Operating Systems

Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, Windows XP

• Processor: 400 MHz Pentium processor or equivalent (Minimum); 1GHz Pentium processor or equivalent (Recommended)


• RAM: 96 MB (Minimum); 256 MB (Recommended)


• Hard Disk: Up to 500 MB of available space may be required


• CD or DVD Drive: Not required


• Display: 800 x 600, 256 colors (Minimum); 1024 x 768 high color, 32-bit (Recommended)

.NET Framework development tools like Visual Studio, will not function on .NET Framework Client Profile. Developers will need to install full .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1.

Important: Make sure you have the latest service pack and critical updates for the version of Windows on the computer. To look for recent updates, visit Windows Update.

2. To save the download to your computer for installation at a later time, click Save.

3. To cancel the installation, click Cancel.

NOTE: DotNetFx35ClientSetup.exe is the web based installer of the Client Profile that will download and install over an internet connection.

If you have installed earlier pre-release versions of .NET Framework Client Profile, then you must uninstall them prior to running this installation by using Add or Remove Programs.
