Microsoft Point of Service for .NET (POS for .NET) v1.14 is a class library that enables POS developers to apply Microsoft .NET technologies in their products. POS for .NET v1.14 provides the following:

    • A simple and consistent interface for.NET Framework applications to interact with POS devices

    • A set of interfaces and classes created to help vendors write applications for common devices such as Cash Drawers or Line Displays

    • A fully compliant implementation of the Unified Point of Service (UnifiedPOS) v1.14 international standard

    • Support for Windows Plug and Play functionality

Microsoft POS for .NET v.1.14 takes the POS development framework and brings full compatibility with the UnifiedPOS 1.14 specification. As part of this update developers will get additional methods for creating a variety of experiences such as:

    • Enabling sales trainees to learn how to use chip and pin devices without affecting the business receipts total for the day (training mode)

    • More symbologies are now available for POS Printer and Barcode Scanner expanding reach to a larger set of devices

    • Fiscal Printer data can now reside on the printer in several different formats for easy review of daily financial transactions at the end of the day

To make development tasks easier, additional POS objects such as smartcard, motion sensor, and fiscal printer have been added to support a larger number of device types

New support for .NET 4.0 takes advantage of an updated security model which makes it easier to maintain PCI compliance when communicating with your device from your application
