    Microsoft SQL Server 2016 service packs are cumulative updates and upgrade all editions and service levels of SQL Server 2016 SP1 to SP2. This service pack contains up to and including SQL Server 2016 SP1 Cumulative Update 8 (CU8).

    This download site contains the following packages and service patches for the Microsoft SQL Server 2016 SP2 release:

    • Microsoft SQL Server 2016 SP2 Update - this package contains the Microsoft SQL Server 2016 Service Pack 2 update to be applied to existing SQL Server 2016 installations.

    • Note: Exceptions to the operating system support noted in this section are the following: Business Intelligence features for SQL Server 2016 (13.x) and earlier, which can be installed on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 or later:

    • Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint products


  • Note: You must have administrative rights on the computer to install SQL Server 2016 SP2.

    1. Review the Microsoft SQL Server 2016 SP2 Release Notes
    2. Download the following file from the "DOWNLOAD" section on this page to your device:
      • SQLServer2016SP2-KB4052908-architecture-language.exe
    3. Once the download is complete, click RUN to begin the installation process immediately or SAVE to install at a later time.
