Three different ways to translate in Microsoft Edge

If you're a frequent traveler or simply enjoy browsing websites in different languages, Microsoft Edge has you covered with its built-in translation tools. Say goodbye to language barriers and hello to a more immersive online experience with Microsoft Edge's translation features.

Translate pages automatically

To get started, open your Microsoft Edge browser. Now, you’re in a position to truly experience the world wide web, as it’s known. The browser makes it possible to translate more than 80 languages so you can navigate and digest pages from all over the globe. Here’s how:

  1. Visit your chosen webpage. In Microsoft Edge, navigate to the webpage you want to translate. It could be a news article, a blog post, or any site in a language you're not fluent in.
  2. Microsoft Edge will detect the language. Once you're on the webpage, your browser will detect the language of the page and ask if you want to translate it.
  3. Choose the language. A pop-up window will appear, prompting you to choose the language you want the webpage to be translated into.
  4. Translate the page. After choosing the language, select Translate. Inside the Address bar, you’ll see a status showing that the page has been translated. This means that the entire webpage was translated into your chosen language so you can understand the content seamlessly.
  5. Always translate selected languages. If you want your browser to always translate from the source language without asking, select More > Always translate [Language].
  6. Skipping the translation. If you want to skip the translation, select More > Not now. You can also choose to never translate a chosen language by navigating to More > Never translate [Language].

Translate pages manually

If you've told Edge to never translate a specific language, webpages in said language won’t be translated automatically. However, you can still manually translate the page by:

  1. Selecting the Translate button or icon that appears in the Address bar.
  2. Choosing the language you want to translate to.
  3. Selecting Translate.

Additional online translation tools

In addition to translating individual web pages, Edge offers a variety of translation tools to enhance your browsing experience.

Translation settings

To further customize your translation experience, adjust your translation settings by:

  1. Selecting Settings and more in the upper-right corner of your browser.
  2. Navigating to Settings > Languages.
  3. Adding your preferred languages, adjusting translation preferences, and even enabling automatic translation for all webpages.

Translate specific page text

If you only need to translate a specific portion of a webpage, highlight the text > right-click > select Translate selection to [Language]. Edge will promptly provide a translation of the text, making it incredibly convenient for quick references.

Microsoft Edge's translation options are a one-stop solution for all your multilingual needs. With these built-in features, you can seamlessly browse the web’s vast resources and open new doors.

So, whether you're an avid reader of international news or simply love exploring content from around the world, Microsoft Edge has you covered with its robust translation tools. Download Microsoft Edge today to enjoy hassle-free online translations and more.
