Empowering health and human services solutions

Our Microsoft mission “to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more” provides the perfect theme for our participation in the 50th IT Solutions Management (ISM) Annual Conference in National Harbor, Md. We’re looking forward to showcasing Microsoft Azure Government and Dynamics-powered solutions at the Oct. 22-25 American Public Human Services Association (APHSA) event—the largest conference of federal, state and local health and human services IT leaders.

Powered by the Microsoft cloud

In our digital transformation booth, we’ll showcase Microsoft Services’ child welfare, and women, infants and children solutions. A variety of partners also will be joining us at ISM to demonstrate their health and human services solutions, all powered by the Microsoft cloud. Upon arrival at ISM, please stop by our booth to see a schedule of which partners are presenting and when. Here are a few examples of what’s in store:

  • Pondera Solutions will feature its market-leading fraud detection as a service (FDaaS), which helps clients detect and prevent hundreds of millions of dollars in improper payments in Medicaid, unemployment insurance, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and other large government programs. FDaaS runs on our Azure Government cloud platform, which serves nearly 6 million government users across 7,000-plus federal, state and local organizations and fulfills innumerable certifications and accreditations.

  • Eccovia Solutions’ ClientTrack Care Coordination platform provides the tools required to manage patient care with multiple agencies across the care continuum. They’ll show how Community Health Partnership (CHP), which manages the care of over 180,000 members in Region 7 of Colorado’s Accountable Care Collaborative, revolutionized the Medicaid delivery system with their innovative health neighborhood model. Jim Calanni, CHP chief information officer, will discuss how the collaboration of local health providers has worked over the past five years to develop a community-based strategy that optimizes delivery of outcomes and care for high-risk populations, such as the homeless, children in foster care, and those who overutilize emergency departments. Eccovia’s Case Management Suite also runs on Azure Government, providing the trust, security and compliance that case managers require.
  • Multiple Microsoft partners also will be on hand to showcase a variety of child welfare solutions. From mobile apps for caseworkers to the most efficient foster care placement solutions, we’ll cover the spectrum of Dynamics and Azure-based innovations to improve the care and outcomes of children in need.

HHS system modernization

We’re proud to serve as a Platinum Sponsor of ISM again this year and even more excited about the opportunity to join with Matt Curren of the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) to explore how platform technologies not only help ensure that systems remain current, accessible and secure, but also enable adoption of new business processes and entirely new and evolving technologies. Microsoft’s Ruthie Seale and I will join Matt in discussing “HHS System Modernization: More Than Just Case Management” on Tuesday, Oct. 24. In this real-world example, we’ll share how DODD is:

  • Using the Microsoft cloud to improve operations in handling developmental disability cases.
  • Moving from on premise systems to a cloud platform to focus limited agency resources on business aspects of the systems rather than worrying about infrastructure and other technology updates.
  • Creating cloud plans that enable easier system access among disparate county users, and how the cloud is helping DODD offer business solutions to other Ohio agencies.

During this same session, Shauna Scherer and Dean Armitage will join us from the Children’s Home Society of Florida (CHSFL), which is among the oldest and largest children services organizations, serving more than 50,000 children and families. They’ll explain how CHSFL collaborated with Microsoft and frontline workers in a series of hackathons to reimagine the child welfare environment, resulting in CaseAIM. This digital transformation is producing many positive outcomes for CHSFL, including:

  • Decreases in the amount of time children are in care, administrative focus, staff overtime and volunteer turnover
  • An increase in face-to-face time with children
  • Millions in cost saving for Florida taxpayers
  • The ability to help other organizations achieve their digital transformation goals.

One of the best aspects of ISM is meeting with health and human services professionals from across the nation to discuss their priorities and how Microsoft can help empower them. Add in the 50th anniversary celebration and this year’s conference is truly a must-attend event. See you there!
