How Microsoft cloud innovations accelerate adoption and business opportunities for manufacturers

As worldwide demand for cloud computing continues to rise, Microsoft is investing to meet this demand. At a recent event in San Francisco, our CEO Satya Nadella outlined how Microsoft is using Microsoft Azure, Office 365 and Microsoft Dynamics to deliver the most complete cloud for every business, industry and geography. You can watch his Microsoft cloud briefing on demand.

Additionally, a number of new innovations from Microsoft and our partners now make it even easier for manufacturers to take advantage of the cloud and its benefits.

Accelerating cloud computing adoption

Furthering its cloud commitment, Microsoft announced several new innovations—the latest in the more than 300 major enhancements to Azure in the last 12 months—including the general availability of the Microsoft Cloud Platform System (CPS), powered by Dell to deliver an “Azure-consistent cloud in a box.” Available Nov. 3, CPS has been optimized to deliver private cloud within your datacenter in days, not months, with the best price-to-performance, and one of the most compelling scaled cost economics in the industry according to Value Prism.

These innovations are focused across our three core areas of differentiation: a hybrid environment as an option, hyper-scale infrastructure and enterprise grade experiences; and the assurance that our cloud meets critical security, reliability and availability needs.

We want to offer the most choice and flexibility for manufacturers to help you accelerate your cloud adoption and take advantage of its business value. More details on the news can be found on the Official Microsoft Blog and in the event press release.

Driving business opportunities for manufacturers

As cloud adoption increases, new business opportunities abound. For example, Microsoft’s cloud services help manufacturers understand their market demand at the micro level, engage customers wherever they are, and develop new sales opportunities on a global scale.

Moving to the cloud for business insights, manufacturers can become more competitive with the data they have. In fact, according to IDC, manufacturing companies that take advantage of their data have the potential to raise an additional $371 billion in revenue over companies that don’t. In a recent blog post, I share ways that data and advanced analytics, available on the cloud, can be tapped to reap key business opportunities in the areas of product innovation, customer facing, employee productivity and operational improvement.

As Satya mentioned in the event keynote, manufacturers like ThyssenKrupp Elevator are betting on Microsoft’s cloud to make sure people can get the right information to make decisions faster. In this post, I share more about manufacturing in the cloud and how ThyssenKrupp and other manufacturers like Toyota and M.G. Bryan Equipment Co. are gaining a competitive edge.
