Mindtree uses Office 365 to create digital experiences, deliver innovative solutions

Today’s post was written by Subramanyam Putrevu, chief information officer at Mindtree.

Mindtree pro pixMindtree delivers digital transformation and technology services from ideation to execution. Mindtree was founded in the digital age, so we have an innate understanding of the value of an agile, collaborative and mobile business culture. We take these values to heart, training our employees—whom we call Mindtree Minds—to embody our culture of expert thinking, unrelenting dedication and collaborative spirit as they partner with customers to solve business challenges. Mindtree Minds use the newest digital tools in Microsoft Office 365 to hone their expertise and business practices, giving our company a tremendous competitive advantage. As we stay ahead of trends in the productivity space—working collaboratively anytime and anywhere we need to, on any device—we are in a great position to help customers reap the benefits of digital transformation as well.

As we use Office 365 to create a digital experience for our customers, they can see the value of the tools for themselves. Mindtree Minds enjoy single sign-on from any device to access information seamlessly through Office 365 applications—Microsoft Exchange Online, Skype for Business Online, Microsoft OneDrive for Business—which are all integrated into our Microsoft SharePoint Online–based intranet. Because we can access customer information easily and securely from one place, our customers get fast, responsive service. We can also allocate the best resources quickly to match each customer’s unique problems, thereby improving the outcome of our engagements. We streamline the process of finding the right experts for each job by searching SharePoint My Sites and using presence-awareness capabilities throughout Office 365.

As we generate more and more business data, we’re using Microsoft Power BI to gain customer insights that can be shared across the company via SharePoint portals. This helps us design new practices and processes to deliver higher-quality solutions more quickly and at lower cost. That’s one reason why we decided to deploy the most comprehensive Office 365 solution available—the Enterprise E5 suite.

This platform enables collaboration across time zones and geographies—essential functionality for the workforce of tomorrow. Our globally dispersed teams come together to share expertise on SharePoint sites and collaborate on documents using OneDrive for Business or through Skype videoconferencing and instant messaging. When we roll out Skype Meetings with PSTN Conferencing, we’ll have the flexibility for long-distance collaboration by dialing in from a landline or a mobile phone, inviting people from the directory, or calling from our computers. This enriches our knowledge capital, which is our key asset, so we can create better solutions for our customers.

Mobility is another key feature for tomorrow’s workforce. We encourage Mindtree Minds to work from home a certain number of days each month to achieve better work-life balance. They use Office 365 to stay connected with colleagues and the office. Better mobility also helps us toward our family friendly goals at Mindtree: for example, with Office 365 tools, new parents have more options to work from home to extend maternity leave.

Using cloud-based security applications in Office 365 and the Microsoft Enterprise Mobility Suite (EMS), we aim to ensure that everybody stays productive and secure on the device of their choice, no matter where they work. I am not worrying about data storage on OneDrive for Business, thanks to Information Rights Management features in Office 365, and we boost mobility with Identity and Access Management capabilities in EMS to manage access to applications and devices. We also plan to roll out Microsoft Advanced Threat Analytics in EMS for proactive responses to cyberattacks.

In addition, we rely on Office 365 to improve our solution-driven training programs, which offer immersive learning based on an entirely digital collaborative experience. New recruits learn to think creatively about problem-solving by using Skype for Business Online to connect with experts and brainstorm solutions to business challenges. We also use Office 365 Video to host training videos on demand, so incoming Mindtree Minds can learn at their own pace.

Mindtree’s tagline, “Welcome to possible,” applies equally to our customers and to our own journey with Office 365. When we first moved to Exchange Online, the 50 GB inbox welcomed our Mindtree Minds to the possible. Sharing large files safely on OneDrive for Business was another welcome. Accessing our training videos from around the world, with virtually no latency, was another. And when we make great things possible for our employees, they can do the same for our customers. For Mindtree, that’s the greatest business value of Office 365.
