Gunn (Jim Brown) is a successful and popular Los Angeles nightclub owner; a man who believes the way for his fellow blacks to achieve success is through the pursuit of "green power" - financial independence. But Gunn's brother has chosen a different path to achieve wealth and power. He's robbed a gangland syndicate for the money to finance the guerilla activities of Vietnam veterans involved in a "Black Action" group planning to attack and destroy white gangster leadership. Forced to act as the middleman between the highest and lowest levels of the society around him, Gunn's involvement in his brother's problems leads to a breathless race course chase, the destruction of a dope pusher and, finally, a violent waterfront climax.
