Dapper vaudeville sharpshooter Johnny Carter (Ray Milland) earns his living putting bullets through the ace of spades. But Carter used to be Col. Desmond, a hero of the Confederate Army. The war's over, but his soldiering skills are still in demand: a group of ex-Confederate miners need protection from the embittered Unionists and corrupt lawmen who run Copper Canyon.
