A team of mechanics, capable of a miracle, rebuild K.I.T.T. after it is completely demolished by the juggernaut in a plot to steal a powerful new isotope. Michael and K.I.T.T. have a new mission which consists of guarding a new substance. It was inadvertently produced in the laboratory of a Foundation-sponsored organization, and it is a mysterious and powerful new isotope with volatile and potentially dangerous qualities. A man named Nordstrom – a feared international terrorist – heads a small group of crooks who plan to intercept the isotope during its transport and layover in Chicago. Michael and K.I.T.T. are taken by surprise when out of nowhere, a juggernaut rams into them, completely destroying K.I.T.T., and appropriating the isotope.

Michael and K.I.T.T. are urgently needed when all hell breaks loose in a state penitentiary. After shooting the guards and escaping in the Commissioner's car, Jeffrey Cavanaugh and his cellmate Lukas have freed themselves. Michael, who was on his way to go sailing with Karen, finds himself in the line of duty again.

When Bonnie's plane is hijacked and all the passengers are held hostage, Michael pushes the super-car to its limits. Bonnie doesn't like to fly but it's the only way she will make it to her sister's wedding in time, and Michael has seen her off at the airport. Soon after take-off, the plane is commandeered by several men who call themselves the New Dawn Movement. Devon and Michael get the news that Bonnie's flight has disappeared from radar. The hijackers have landed the plane at an abandoned military airfield and demand that the captive passengers be exchanged for 197 political prisoners plus $3 million within 24 hours. Because Bonnie is employed by the Foundation, she would be the first person to be executed.

Michael and K.I.T.T. help people from a Native American tribe ward off a group of greedy oil diggers. The disappearance of Dr. Quentin Tanner and his college protégé Barbara Ralston prompts the Foundation to send Michael on a mission to find both scientists. Tanner, an archeologist, and the young woman were digging for an ancient American-Indian treasure and had enough evidence indicating its location. Michael asks Susan Christopher to help him find Dr. Tanner and Barbara. Susan is a social worker and her interest is, as is everyone else's, to have the burial grounds declared a national shrine. Instead ruthless Cyrus Oakes wants to start digging for oil.

The son of a brilliant systems designer-entrepreneur gets involved with the wrong group of people who use him for his knowledge of computers. Nicholas Arkett is the son of Glen and Lydia Arkett, both brilliant computer system designers/programmers. He has a great deal of admiration for his father but also harbors resentment and animosity, which causes him to slide into a situation that could have devastating results. A gang of motorcycle riders, headed by a man named Scott Hollander includes Erika, whom Nicholas has been dating. The young people plan to hijack a semi with a cargo of several hundred cases of vodka. Instead, they hijack a similar vehicle belonging to the Foundation, which was driven by RC3. As Nicholas finds himself pulled further and further into the dirty job, the gang pushes him to program the computer aboard the truck to gain access to a local bank.

A canister containing lethal bacteria, which has become a very dangerous weapon, must be retrieved by Michael and K.I.T.T. A sudden change of heart prompts August Hollenbeck to inform the Foundation of potentially deadly circumstances. Apparently, a canister containing lethal bacteria has fallen into the hands of two individuals, Simon Carascas and Antoun, at the Paramayan Embassy. Both characters had planned its delivery for an exorbitant sum of money. On his way to the secret meeting spot with Michael, Hollenbeck and his daughter Gaye are attacked with machine guns and Hollenbeck is hurt.

A vacation and birthday celebration for Michael turns into a race to find a stolen hovercraft prototype before it can be shipped out of the country. Michael and K.I.T.T. have just arrived in Carmel, California, for what he thinks will be a well-deserved vacation and birthday celebration, but Michael soon finds out that Devon had arranged the first-class accommodations at the lavish Pines Hotel to meet the attractive Amy Lowell. After the death of her father, Amy became president of Lowell Industries. Around the same time, the company had lost all government contracts because of a very low security rating. The newly-developed hovercraft would have allowed the company to make a welcome recovery. But during a test run at the beach, a quick, brutal take-over of the prototype by several frogmen jeopardized all plans. Michael meets Amy and realizes that her problem involves National Security.

After Michael has qualified to drive in an auto race, someone is trying to kill him. Elena Thomas and her father Mac are watching his daughter's creation – the Thomas Flyer. Every cent of his money is tied up in the race car. Suddenly the prototype explodes when a man named Lurani pulls the trigger of his weapon. Bonnie, Elena's long time college friend, begs Devon for Michael's help. Mac and Elena's work seems to have been cursed, sabotaged being the obvious explanation. Michael steps in and after challenging the track record, he lands himself the driver's job for Mac. Lurani is again hired by Wayne Altfield to kill Michael. Wayne has known Mac for a long time, but the truth he is trying to hide could devastate all of Elena's and Mac's dreams.

Michael and K.I.T.T. go into prison to track down an inmate who committed a break-in. Using his connection with a prison warden, Jason Nelson uses inmates to commit break-ins. Julie and Samantha work together on assignments for Nelson. They set up their target, gain access to their home or office by pick-pocketing the keys, I.D.'s, etc., and deliver the money or other valuables to their boss. Nelson has complete control over the women through the prison warden, a shrewd and cold person named Brooks. Brooks' intimidating approach keeps young ladies like Julie and Samantha doing their "work." When the ladies gain access to the office of a businessman who had blueprints depicting a specific hotel, Devon's concern about the safety of an upcoming convention grows and Michael and K.I.T.T. track the inmates down.

RC3 needs Michael's help when a powerful real estate developer is trying to take over the old neighborhood. Returning to his old neighborhood, famous performer Charley Conners has set up a concert to benefit its clean-up with the support of his friend Josh Bevin. When Josh is surprised by Keith Lawson and his men, Josh lands in the hospital, badly injured from the beating. Bonnie and RC3 talk Michael into getting F.L.A.G. involved in this matter, and it soon becomes clear that a major real estate scheme is going on.

Michael and K.I.T.T. are sent to investigate when Jonathan Dutton, a big supporter of the Foundation, has his house vandalized by Erik Whitby. Erik and his sister, Ellen, claim they are unable to sell their timber to Dutton's Mill because someone is underselling them. Dutton's daughter, Samantha, is in charge of the mill and has been running it at a huge profit much to her father's delight. While checking out Dutton's Mill, Michael runs into opposition from Nash, the supervisor and Dave.

A famous magician uses his skills as a killer. Bonnie and RC3 are about to witness the performance of the famous Templeton, a magician with unbelievable skills. Bonnie recognizes him as the intriguing tennis partner she met earlier that day, and is very pleasantly surprised when asked out to lunch by him to watch one of his performances. At their table, two other guests are present as well: Dr. Ian Browning, a computer scientist who has helped develop many of K.I.T.T.'s systems, and Maxwell Henderson, a wealthy businessman. Henderson is unexpectedly called away on business – while on stage, Templeton is being strapped into a straightjacket he has to escape within three minutes, counting down. Somehow though, he manages to follow Henderson to his room and kill him and immediately afterwards, return to emerge from a coffin!

Michael and K.I.T.T. must stop a prize fighter from a high stakes re-match. Devon receives a call from the deaf sports writer, Damon Leland. Damon is adamant about stopping the re-match between Grant and Keeler for medical reasons, and that Keeler was framed by Davis, his manager. During their phone conversation, Damon is murdered by Davis' thugs. The re-match is high stakes which could bring Royal Davis $40 million. Michael, posing as a reporter, questions Davis as to the reason Keeler went down in the first match.

Roderigo De Lorca promises Becker a new identity and safe passage across the border by financing an off-road race.

K.I.T.T. analyzes that the fire was started by napalm and an arsonist. K.I.T.T. pursues an escaping all-terrain vehicle, yet loses it in the heavy terrain. Meanwhile, Michael saves a young man, Darryl, trapped by the fire. The Foundation is investigating the fire for Sandra Rusk, who abruptly calls it off when Darryl is arrested for the arson. Darryl escapes from jail and tries to contact Michael.

Michael must save a Foundation contact arrested in a military coup. A volcano erupts on San Duarte and Tom Harrington and President Sosa are arrested when Colonel Peralta declares martial law. Michael, RC3 and K.I.T.T. crash their way through military barricades and radio Devon as to Harrington's disappearance. Devon gives them an alternate contact – Lisa Corrales. Lisa takes them to her freedom fighters, Martinez and Raoul. They discover the President and Harrington are being held at the Capitol Prison. Disguising K.I.T.T. as a local car, Michael enters the prison negotiating for the prisoners' release. However, there is a traitor within the freedom fighters and Michael is arrested.

Michael investigates the remake of a feature film which is plagued with serious accidents by a 'Phantom'. Michael is sent to help Karen Bennett, Vice President in Charge of Production. Her film, the remake of "Raging Sky" is plagued with accidents that have incapacitated the male lead. The special effects man is convinced that the Phantom of Stage 28 has returned. The original "Raging Sky" was haunted by the Phantom who turned out to be actor Dennis Darrow, who is supposedly dead.

Nick O'Brien, a close friend of Devon's and owner of O'Brien Shipyard asks Michael to investigate why Suki Tanika, a powerful industrialist, is trying to run him out of business. His main concern is his fifteen-year-old son, Coy, a Japanese child he adopted. The Foundation learns that Tanika is trying to reinstate the Uyoku Cult – a terrorist group abolished after the war and illegal in Japan. Michael and K.I.T.T. learn that Tanika wants Coy as he is Kasuga Sukuritsu, and must be ordained Emperor Prince of the Uyoku.

Michael and K.I.T.T. track down an ancient crown which ties in to a "Voodoo Princess" and murder. Michael and K.I.T.T. try to stop a robbery at Towers Gem Stones and watch the owner, Jeremy Towers, jump to his death. Michael notices Towers was wearing an ear clip. Feeling responsible, Michael attends an exclusive party at Donald Crane's home wherein the guest of honor is a "Voodoo Princess," Harana. He meets Elizabeth Wesley, but they are forced to leave when they ask about Towers' death. As Crane's henchmen are throwing him out, Michael notices they are wearing similar ear clips to Towers' and grabs one.
