Mark Harmon stars as Dr. Jack Black, a hip, divorced radio psychiatrist who takes his two kids, teenage Josh (Joshua Jackson) and 10-year-old Ashley (Sarah Wayne), on a vacation to the lakeside resort of Glenorky. But inattentive Dad spends his days in the cabin working on his book, until a close encounter with something mysterious in the lake-which he thinks was a concussion-induced dream-drives him to seek the advice of local psychiatrist Dr. Wanda Bell (Harley Jane Kozak). It turns out she's been treating others who are convinced they have seen Orky, a monster who, legend has it, lives in the lake. Ashley knows that there is a creature in the lake, a gentle creature who, without the little girl's help, will die. Together, Ashley, Josh and Orky help Jack rekindle his own sense of wonder.
