James Garner (The Rockford Files) stars in this comedic one-hour Western series from 1957 as wisecracking ladies’ man Bret Maverick, a handsome bachelor who traverses the American Old West and riverboat towns along with his brother, Bart (Jack Kelly), trying their luck at fortune — and love — in one frontier settlement after the next. Yet even though the stakes may be high, these poker-playing cardsharks hedge their bets when trouble arises or their morality is in question, for the Mavericks would rather fold their hand of cards than their lives. The first season includes guest stars Edd Byrnes, Emmy® winner Werner Klemperer, Claude Akins, longtime Western star Raymond Hatton and Diana Brewster as con woman Samantha Crawford, who gets the better of Bret when she beats him at a poker game.
