Gepetto, a lonely woodcutter makes a special puppet, for himself, he names Pinocchio. Soon after coming to life, Pinocchio sets off on his own. His magical adventures provide ample material for one morality play to another; from telling to truth, to following instructions. Guided by his conscious and higher self, in the guise of a wise cricket and nurturing blue fairy, Pinocchio gets a first-hand lesson from the school of hard knocks.
