After a tumultuous engagement, Kandi and Todd have finally picked a wedding date...and it’s only five weeks away! As Kandi rallies her team to help plan a “Coming to America” themed wedding, the troops express doubts about pulling off such an extravagant wedding in so little time. The stress of a large-scale wedding overwhelms Kandi's best friend Carmon, and she admits to not having gotten over how she was treated by Momma Joyce for the past year. Meanwhile, Momma Joyce meets with her sisters who try to convince her to let go of her issues and support her daughter’s decision to marry Todd. With so much on her plate, can Kandi find a venue, caterer and a dress in only five short weeks?

Kandi's wedding planning team recovers from Carmon's emotional exit, but it's not clear if Kandi and Todd can recover from Mama Joyce referring to Todd's deceased father as a ‘pimp.’ Kandi and Todd attempt to move forward with their wedding plans, but Kandi eventually tells Todd about her mother's allegations, upsetting Todd all over again. In an effort to bring her family together for her big day, Kandi meets with her father and asks him to officiate her wedding but gets more than she bargained for when he dredges up family issues from the past. Todd seeks advice on what to do from Kandi's father and close friend Apollo. In an emotional sit down with Mama Joyce, will Todd be able to stand up for himself and finally put a stop to Mama's disrespect?

It's the night before Kandi's dream wedding, and with Todd refusing to sign the pre-nup, the nuptials are at risk of not taking place at all. Kandi tries to save face by attending the rehearsal dinner alone, while Todd and his friends retire to his hotel to debate whether or not the wedding is the best idea. Finally deciding that marrying Kandi is more important than anything, Todd sneaks back to their house in the middle of the night to tell Kandi he has agreed to sign. But the wedding day isn't without drama: Mama Joyce once again stirs the pot by purposely ignoring Todd's teenage daughter, igniting a huge argument between Kandi and her mother just hours before the ceremony is scheduled to begin. As Kandi prepares to walk down the aisle in her ‘Coming to America’ dream wedding, she worries that her mom might fly off the handle and object to the wedding while Kandi's dad officiates.
