Every organization wants AI that does more than answer questions. They want agents that make decisions, follow the way the business actually works and take action. Yet most agents still struggle with the same problem: they don’t truly understand the business they’re meant to serve.
The context they need already exists. It lives in the records, relationships, rules and processes your teams have built in Dynamics 365 and Power Platform over many years. The opportunity isn’t to start over. It’s to make that business knowledge available to Copilot and agents, so they can reason and act the way your best people do.
From understanding work to understanding the business
For years, the promise has been AI that understands your work. With business applications in Work IQ, now in public preview, Copilot and agents understand your business too. That shift comes down to three ideas:
- Model your business once. A shared semantic model gives every agent the same understanding of your data, how records relate and what your terms mean, so you don’t have to rebuild context agent by agent.
- Turn your playbook into business skills. Capture how your organization works, such as which criteria matter and when approval is required, as reusable skills that any agent can follow.
- Act with governance built in. With Agent 365, agents move from recommendations to governed actions that update systems of record within each user’s permissions, while IT stays in control.

Underneath it all is Microsoft Dataverse, the trusted data layer for Dynamics 365, Power Platform and Copilot Studio, and the secure home for the semantic models and skills that power Work IQ.
See it in action at PPCC 2026
At the Power Platform Community Conference in Las Vegas, you can see how these pieces come together and what they could mean for your organization. Start with Nirav Shah’s innovation session on Wednesday for the big picture. Then build your agenda around the outcomes you care about: grounding Copilot in business data, turning processes into agentic workflows, enabling agents to act safely and governing your data estate as AI scales.
Here’s a sneak peak of the new public preview capabilities we are launching to support that:
- Business Skills in the Power Apps Maker portal now includes an agentic experience to help you build and edit skills, along with version\ history and simpler ways to secure your business skills.
- Work IQ MCP Server in Copilot Studio can now also understand your business context. Learn more about Work IQ in Microsoft Copilot Studio here: Work IQ in Microsoft Copilot Studio (GitHub Copilot) – Microsoft Copilot Studio | Microsoft Learn
- Business Apps plugin in Cowork is now in Public Preview allowing you to get business context and take governed actions across your existing Dynamics 365 and Power Apps applications.
- The Dataverse Ask API lets you define semantic models for your business scenarios and ask questions in natural language, with multiple modes to match your performance and quality requirements. This feature is now available both as Web API and via Dataverse Connector. Learn more here: Use Dataverse Ask APIs for Natural-Language Questions (Preview) – Power Apps | Microsoft Learn
- Additional extensibility support for Dataverse across Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, GitHub Copilot:
- Dataverse plugin is now available in Cowork, allowing low code makers to connect to a Dataverse environment to manage and query their data.
- Invoking Custom API is now supported in Dataverse MCP Server.
- Microsoft Dataverse node in n8n allows n8n users to automate work in Dataverse and iterate it with other applications. Learn more here: Microsoft Dataverse | Nodes | n8n Docs
