Moving forward with your transition to Unified Interface
As announced on September 10, 2019, the time is now to prepare for the move to Unified Interface for Model-driven apps if you are still on the classic web client. As part of this process we want to make it as easy as possible for you to make the move and have therefore introduced a new transition service to switch environments across to Unified Interface prior to October 1, 2020. If you are an organization who has not made the move already, we may have your environment allocated to a suggested date awaiting your approval.
What action can be taken now?
Take a look at our Unified Interface scheduling portal to view the environments that have a suggested date to be moved to Unified Interface. Administrators can access their tenant and environment details after they sign in using their admin credentials. See further details in the FAQ.
The portal shows all the environments associated with your tenant. Please review and be sure to approve the suggested transition dates if they work for you. If you need to reschedule a transition date, no problem, just submit the new date within the portal. We will only transition environments that have the date explicitly approved by an admin.
Please note that after October 1, 2020, all remaining environments will be updated as part of the October 2020 release wave.
What communication should I expect to see?
Aside from this blog, we will be reaching out via e-mail to each environment admin with a suggested date for confirmation. This will be in waves at least 30 days prior to the suggested timeframe but you can log into the portal at any time to take a look and approve. We will also post a notification within the Microsoft 365 Message Center at tenant level.
If you opt in to have your environment transitioned, administrators will then receive reminder messages before the dates are locked, including instructions on how to make changes to dates if needed.
Wondering where to begin? For more information about the process, please review the Unified Interface Transition FAQ and we have a helpful Planning Checklist.
Once transitioned, you will still be able to switch back to the legacy web client for up to 10 days post transition. You can make the switch manually for the first 4 days or after that point, raise a support request from your usual channel as the manual switch will be disabled. This will also be the case for existing environments that have already made the transition. Please see the FAQ for more details.
