Akiko Eriguchi, Ph.D. Akiko is a Senior Researcher at Microsoft. Her research interests lie in multilingual NLP and deep learning. With her position in the Microsoft Translator team (opens in new tab), she has developed MT systems and multilingual NLP applications (See Project Z-Code (opens in new tab)). Her work has been published in top-tier NLP conferences such as ACL, NAACL, EMNLP, etc. She is also passionate about DEI work, currently serving as a WiML Treasurer and Board of Directors at Women in Machine Learning, Inc. (opens in new tab), to empower women or non-binary people in machine learning fields.

Prior to joining Microsoft, she was a Research Fellow (DC1) at the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (opens in new tab). She obtained her doctoral degree from the University of Tokyo, Japan (opens in new tab), where her PhD thesis received the sixth AAMT Nagao Student award from the Asia-Pacific Association for Machine Translation.
