Benjamin Edelman

Ben is an economist at Microsoft in the Office of the Chief Economist.  His research interests include industrial organization, market design, competition, and policy.  He combines these subjects to advise a variety of Microsoft teams on questions of economics and strategy, with a focus on devising new products and features with sound economics and sustainable competitive advantage.

Ben was a faculty member at Harvard Business School from 2007 to 2018.  He holds a Ph.D. from the Department of Economics at Harvard University, a J.D. from the Harvard Law School, an A.M. in Statistics from the Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and an A.B. in Economics from Harvard College (summa cum laude). He is a member of the Bar in Massachusetts and Washington.
