I work on the holographic data storage project (HSD) at Microsoft Research Cambridge, where I build machine learning models to extract bytes back out of images that are stored in the medium. This often involves combining the physics of the particular system with modern machine learning techniques as well as information theory to build fast and accurate models that also generalise well.
