Karthik Selvaraj is a Partner Security Research Director at Microsoft’s Security & Compliance division, where he leads a multi-geo research team with the focus on in-depth security research and in building durable threat protection features that spans across operating system, applications and in Microsoft defender advanced threat protection.
He is responsible for researching and building next gen protection capabilities to Microsoft defender Advanced threat Protection (MDATP), and manages teams researching on Windows, Linux, Mac, Android & iOS platforms. Some of the protection capabilities & features built through his research and leadership include, Attack surface reduction, Controlled folder access, Ransomware protection, Tamper protection, fileless threat protection, bringing modern solutions to gain deeper threat visibility into Office VBA abuse, VBS/JS, dotnet, wmi etc, bringing Firmware protection to defender and partnering with Intel to leverage Intel TDT hardware signal for threat detection.
