Jaime Teevan is Chief Scientist and Technical Fellow at Microsoft (opens in new tab), where she is responsible for driving research-backed innovation in the company’s core products. Jaime is an advocate for finding smarter ways for people to make the most of their time and leads Microsoft’s future of work (opens in new tab) initiative, which brings researchers from across the company together to study how the pandemic has changed work. Previously she was Technical Advisor to CEO Satya Nadella and led the Productivity team (opens in new tab) at Microsoft Research (opens in new tab). Jaime was recently inducted into the ACM SIGIR (opens in new tab) and SIGCHI (opens in new tab) Academies and has received the TR35 (opens in new tab), BECA (opens in new tab), and Karen Spärck Jones (opens in new tab) awards. She holds a Ph.D. (opens in new tab) from MIT (opens in new tab) and a B.S. from Yale (opens in new tab), and is an Affiliate Professor (opens in new tab) at the University of Washington (opens in new tab).

The coronavirus pandemic not only caused a public health crisis, it also caused technological, social, and cultural disruption as people experienced a rapid shift to remote work. Researchers from across Microsoft formed an ongoing cross-company initiative to coordinate efforts with the goal of understanding the impact of remote work and identifying opportunities to support new working practices.
