À propos

Yiwen received her B.S at Tsinghua University in 2012 and Ph.D. in 2017 supervised by Prof. Haris Koutsopoulos (Northeastern University) and Prof. Nigel Wilson (MIT).

Upon joining Microsoft, she worked on the development of onnxmltools (opens in new tab)ML.NET (opens in new tab), and NimbusML (opens in new tab) with state-of-the-art implementation for ML methods to achieve faster and more accurate performance. She joined the research team in 2018 and started working on data-driven optimization for cloud computing systems (e.g., Azure SQL, Cosmos, and Azure Synapse Analytics), achieving tens of millions of dollars’ cost savings per year.

Yiwen’s research focuses on leveraging data science tools to improve system efficiency, such as machine learning, statistical inference, optimization, behavioral modeling, and agent-based simulation.
