Microsoft Research Study of Social Media in Protests

Established: February 23, 2017

We are the neXus team within Microsoft Research, and we are conducting a research investigation into the use of social media in public protests. As part of this investigation, we would like to collect information from people who use social media to share activities from the protest to remote people, or use social media to remotely view and participate in protests. As part of this investigation, we would like to learn from people who use social media to share activities from the protest to remote people, or use social media to remotely view and participate in protests. We would like them to describe their experiences through completing surveys, arranging for interviews, or other ways of reporting information about experiences with social media around protests. We may ask participants to try various ways of sharing or viewing the protest over social media. Participation in our studies is totally voluntary, and participants are always free to end involvement in the study at any time. All data collected will be governed by the Microsoft Privacy Statement (opens in new tab).
