In an America generations removed from the greatest civil rights struggles of the 1960s, the young mayor of Yonkers, New York finds himself engulfed in a racially divided maelstrom that threatens the city's future as well as his own ambitions. Based on a true story, this six-part HBO miniseries from creator David Simon and director Paul Haggis follows Yonkers Mayor Nick Wasicsko (Oscar Isaac) as he deals with a federal court order that says he must build a small number of low-income housing units in the white neighborhoods of his town. His effort to do so tears the entire city apart, paralyzes the municipal government, and leaves his political future in ruins.
