This threat installs web browser plugins that can be used for a number of malicious activities on your PC. This can include stealing your sensitive information, Bitcoin mining, and sending spam emails.
It is installed by other malware in the Win32/Tofsee family.
This threat is usually installed by variants of the Win32/Tofsee malware family. It is downloaded along with configuration data received from Tofsee command and control servers.
The encrypted plugins are saved along with other configuration information in the following files:
In subkey: HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DeviceControl Sets value: "DevData" With data: "<encrypted binary data>", for example "<FB 7F 38 A5 8E CC BB 5D AB 47 E1 7D 16 B3 4D E9 ...>"
When the threat is run it extracts and decrypts the configuration data and loads the plugins to memory.
