Summary

Behavior:Win32/MischiefTut!dha is a behavior-based detection for a PowerShell script that loads a backdoor trojan.

MischiefTut is a custom backdoor implemented in PowerShell with a set of basic capabilities. MischiefTut can run reconnaissance commands, write outputs to a text file, and send outputs back to threat actor-controlled infrastructure. MischiefTut can also be used to download additional tools on a target device.

MischiefTut is known to be associated with the threat actor Microsoft tracks as Mint Sandstorm.

Microsoft Defender Antivirus automatically removes threats as they are detected. However, many infections can leave remnant files and system changes. Updating your antimalware definitions and performing a full scan might help address these remnant artifacts.

You can also visit our advanced troubleshooting page or search the Microsoft virus and malware community for more help.

Devices infected by this trojan might be severely compromised and require complete restoration. Consider restoring your device. When restoring data, ensure to use an uninfected copy.
