This ransomware locks your PC and shows you a message that covers your desktop. The message claims to be from a local law enforcement agency and demands you pay a fee because illicit material has supposedly been found in your PC.
If this threat is detected on your PC it is likely your PC is also infected with other malware from the Ransom:Win32/Reveton family.

The trend towards increasingly sophisticated malware behavior, highlighted by the use of exploits and other attack vectors, makes older platforms so much more susceptible to ransomware attacks.
