This threat is a malicious JavaScript file that can open hidden content as you browse a website. It does this to improve the ranking of the targeted content in search engine results.
We have seen this threat added to compromised websites running vulnerable versions of Joomla and WordPress.
Use the following free Microsoft software to detect and remove this threat:
- Windows Defender for Windows 10 and Windows 8.1, or Microsoft Security Essentials for Windows 7 and Windows Vista
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
You should also run a full scan. A full scan might find hidden malware.
Audit your website
If you are the owner or administrator of an infected website, you are recommended to audit the website backend. The website should be disinfected, and updated to the latest WordPress and Joomla versions as well as related plugins.
