This threat downloads and installs other programs, including other malware, onto your PC without your consent.
For those organizations who have not yet applied the security update, we suggest you immediately deploy Microsoft Security Bulletin MS17-010 if you have not already done so.
Use the following free Microsoft software to detect and remove this threat:
- Microsoft Defender Antivirus for Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, or Microsoft Security Essentials for Windows 7 and Windows Vista
- Microsoft Safety Scanner

Use cloud protection to help guard against the latest malware threats. It’s turned on by default for Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Defender for Windows 10.
Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Defender > Open Windows Defender Security Center > Virus & threat protection > Virus & threat protection settings and make sure that your Cloud-delivered protection settings is turned On.
