Kontent by Kentico helps brands publish faster with Microsoft Azure-based content management system

Kontent by Kentico is a headless content management system (CMS) that helps companies improve their content operations. Built for the enterprise market, the platform enables large teams to create modern digital experiences. The CMS was developed by Kentico Software, a company that offers quality content management products to businesses around the globe. When building Kontent, the team turned to Azure, leveraging the power of the cloud in developing a product that answers the needs of top organizations.

Kentico Software has been offering quality content management products since 2004. Its headless content management system (CMS), called Kontent, enables companies to easily publish digital media across different formats and devices. The Kontent team wanted its tool to be more accessible to large organizations, and decided to develop a cloud-based solution in 2015. “We wanted to offer a CMS as a software as a service,” says Bart Omlo, Managing Director at Kontent by Kentico. “We chose Azure because it offered us the reliability and scalability we needed to service large companies. We’ve also built a strong relationship with Microsoft over the years, so it was a logical choice.”

The cloud-based headless CMS solution offers a flexible infrastructure for large organizations that traditionally rely on older, rigid systems for content management. “It’s difficult and expensive for companies to change older complex systems. That’s where Kontent comes in. It unravels the architecture to give companies more flexibility in trying out different functions or products in the future,” explains Omlo.

Kontent also decided to be on the Microsoft Azure Marketplace, which has been a big differentiator for the company. “We are one of the few headless CMSs that currently run on a full Microsoft platform,” says Omlo. “That means companies can experiment with Kontent under the same operational budget if they already have a Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment (MACC) agreement to use Azure.” This setup makes it easier for companies to overcome any concerns about budgeting or replacing existing systems when seeking new CMS solutions.

Effective content management, better customer experience

One company that has leveraged Kontent’s headless CMS is Hartlauer, an Austrian expert in consumer electronics. Lacking flexibility and integration of its internal systems, Hartlauer needed an easier way to publish content on its platforms. Implementation partner Emakina assisted Hartlauer in adopting Kontent as its new CMS, and the results were impressive.

With Kontent, Hartlauer was able to centralize its content into a main hub, increasing speed and performance of its distribution and display channels. “With this central platform, clients can publish content or launch new products quicker,” says Omlo. Hartlauer saw increased customer engagement and satisfaction, which fueled greater conversions and higher revenue for the brand.

Hartlauer now efficiently manages content across all channels with the headless CMS. “They can reuse content for different purposes, even for in-store displays at physical locations. It’s a great way to optimize what they have to create the best shopping experience,” says Omlo.

Looking ahead

Being a Microsoft Partner has empowered Kontent to tap into new markets—something the team wants to keep doing in the future. Moving forward, Kontent wants to develop artificial intelligence models. In particular, it wants to improve automation and the control of the content editing and modelling processes. “Our ideal goal is to make the life of the content editors and marketers better, and automation plays an important role in that,” concludes Omlo.
