The global mobile game developer and publisher, Mobirix, is achieving great success through Azure PlayFab.

Mobirix is a casual mobile game developer founded in 2004, and it has enjoyed continuous growth, reflected in its #3 ranking among most downloaded Korean publishers by App Annie in 2021. Mobirix achieved sales of KRW 44 billion and profits of KRW 12 billion in 2020, and with its listing in KOSDAQ in 2021, the company is entering its next stage for even greater growth.

Mobirix has been a “Small Giant” within the Korean game industry, achieving sound growth since its foundation with popular game services which attracted many domestic and overseas users.  The company’s foundation in the mobile game market, where core genres garner attention, has been the small, but substantial game portfolio allowing the company to achieve record-setting success.   With the successful listing on KOSDAQ in early 2021, Mobirix entered its next stage for even greater growth from its previous success at its foundation, and together with Microsoft, it has introduced Azure PlayFab to strengthen new capacities and secure operational efficiency.

Azure PlayFab is a live game development and operation platform regarded to have key functions necessary in operating Cloud-based game services.  Through Azure PlayFab, game companies can release games sooner, expand the life of games and reduce cost by utilizing various functions related to data analysis and LiveOps.  Furthermore, Azure PlayFab follows an agnostic model, which allows anyone to operate regardless of their level of knowledge on game development and operation, it offers benefits in critical issues for game companies, efficient operation costs and quick developer training.

Mobirix is fully utilizing Azure PlayFab in games that are currently being serviced, including Dungeon Knight, Mission Survival Spy Finder and Three Kingdoms Idle, and many other development projects are also utilizing the platform.

With proven success from Dungeon Knight, Mobirix is expanding the application of Azure PlayFab in more game services, and it is also spreading its value to its partners.  

Dungeon Knight is Mobirix’s most iconic title in the global market, which has achieved more than 10 million dollars of sales and 1 million downloads as of 2021.  Mobirix used Azure PlayFab for the first time in the development and service of Dungeon Knight, and the platform allowed the company to achieve great success in game operation, data analysis and user experience improvement.  

Mobirix is utilizing various functions of Azure PlayFab, and in particular, the company uses Scheduled Tasks for its time-based scheduled executions and for developing a mail sending system categorized by group and country segments.  It also utilizes the Leaderboard to set up hourly/weekly/monthly resets, reset rewards and register/delete records, and to provide support functions to ensure fluid sign-up processes through various channels including platform, e-mail and custom. In terms of data analysis, Azure Data Explorer allows easy search, real-time bug finding and prevision fix finding, and in terms of development convenience, TypeScript within CloudScript is being fully utilized.  Furthermore, PlayFab packages, which are supported in VSCode, are also being used to their full extent.  

With the introduction of Azure PlayFab, Mobirix is able to develop and operate games through the Intelligent Cloud while analyzing game data, and as such, has made significant contributions in improving the overall game environment.      

After confirming its potential, Mobirix is positively reviewing the implementation of other functions, and it is also sharing and spreading the advantages of Azure PlayFab to other game developers.

The two companies which value relationship, Mobirix and Microsoft, will continue to strengthen their relationship for greater growth.        

The relationship between Microsoft and Mobirix began in 2014, when Mobirix supplied games to Windows Mobile.  Since then, the company has paid close attention to the best game Cloud solution, Azure, and has made a great effort to expand its relationship with Microsoft through strengthening Microsoft Store-related businesses.   Such was based on the judgment that the partnership with Microsoft was the key in allowing Mobirix to achieve greater growth.  To Microsoft, Mobirix is a client making full-use of its Azure PlayFab platform, and Microsoft will endeavor to provide updates with new features and differentiated support services to game companies, like Mobirix.
