Magicrete gains a competitive edge by optimizing operations across departments using Microsoft solutions

Magicrete Building Solutions (Magicrete) is India's frontline manufacturer of lightweight concrete (AAC) blocks. The organization was founded in 2008 with the vision of helping build better, faster and cheaper homes through innovative construction technologies. It provides a wide range of construction solutions including AAC wall panels, construction chemicals and precast solutions. Over the last decade, Magicrete’s products have been used to build over half a million homes.

Dynamics 365 solutions streamline business processes and drive productivity at Magicrete

Magicrete is a flag bearer of leveraging technology to optimize business operations and create value and has been using Microsoft solutions since its founding years. They had been using Dynamics NAV since 2011 before transitioning to Dynamics 365 Business Central in 2021.

The company also uses Dynamics CRM to streamline sales and customer management activities, Power BI to get a real-time view of business and make agile decisions. Microsoft Partner, Dhyey Consulting Services, has been providing implementation support to Magicrete for these solutions across various business processes. 

Dynamics 365 Business Central enables management of operations and processes across departments  

Financial management used to be very cumbersome, but Magicrete adopted Dynamics NAV, and later Business Central, as the enterprise-wide ERP solution and turned the scenario upside down.

With Business Central, Magicrete can now take advantage of an excellent user interface, built-in workflow charts, self-service reporting tools and real-time business intelligence.

These features serve as significant upgrades over Dynamics NAV and enable managers to make more informed financial decisions on a day-to-day basis.

Magicrete has always believed that information flow should be seamless for an organization to be scalable. Business Central has automated processes in the organization, leading to better streamlining, less manual dependency and errors. It has also enabled employees to move from routine tasks to more critical and valuable work.

Magicrete has deployed customer and vendor facing apps that integrate with Business Central systems and provide self-service scenarios to end-users. These have eliminated internal efforts to provide data to end-users, thereby driving up productivity significantly.

The organization has linked data from SCADA systems at the factory with Business Central. This provides the operations team with key analytics and ultimately leads to quicker decision-making and better monitoring of production processes. 

The Jobs module has enabled the Projects team to track plans and ensure that projects stay on schedule within the planned resources.

Sales operations optimized with Dynamics 365 CRM

Leveraging Dynamics 365 CRM as the enterprise-wide solution, Magicrete optimized sales efforts with ease. A few clicks allowed the sales teams to view contacts, accounts and opportunity pipelines. Moreover, the solution combined data on phone calls, meetings, emails and tasks to track customer interaction history and suggest next steps. This significantly enhanced the productivity of the sales workforce.

Magicrete gets unified view of business in real-time with Power BI

Before Power BI, workers spent 5 to 10 percent of their time creating monthly data MIS sheets of different departments. Moreover, these sheets were created in silos. But with Power BI, the integrated enterprise data can be viewed at any given point in the month. This is strategically significant. Also, no manual intervention means there will be one single source of data free of human error.

Power BI helps Magicrete access data, create interactive dashboards and map real-time information in an easy-to-understand, highly visual format. These dashboards identify where business disruptions occur and have the most significant impacts.

Microsoft Teams is redefining collaboration in the new normal

At the onset of the pandemic, Magicrete’s business development teams identified remote selling as the need of the hour and were quick to leverage Teams to collaborate with customers. They could share files, chat, collaborate on documents, all within a single collaboration platform. The feature of working in tandem on Office documents on Teams eliminated the need to switch between apps and enabled a seamless collaboration experience.

One of the most significant benefits to Magicrete has been the credit control system. The order approval process used to be an inconvenience because of its disjointed nature, especially when there were delays and last-minute order rejections. It was also a long process since most of the communication and information-sharing happened on phone among people. The organization tackled this problem by deploying an app within Teams.

With this app, as soon as an order is punched into the system, a bot triggers a message showing all relevant customer data needed for taking an order approval decision. It fetches customer data and history from the ERP about their payment patterns and outstanding payments. Based on this information, the sales and credit teams together take a call on accepting or rejecting the order.

The decision-making time has been reduced from a day to a few minutes, leading to substantial improvement in the order delivery service levels.

Looking ahead

Magicrete can scale up multiple times without a second thought because of automation and defined processes that Microsoft services make possible for the business.

With every new data unit that Magicrete adds to its 14-year-old database, it improves the overall data quality. The organization leverages this data to derive costing for its products automatically. This is a valuable use case for the organization and lends it a vital competitive advantage over its peers.

Magicrete sees great potential in leveraging Teams to integrate with other business systems. It is exploring the use of bots that can provide necessary contextual information from the ERP or CRM for faster approvals. This instant action on tasks, happening simultaneously with collaboration and communication, will further increase work efficiency.
