“Our customers’ businesses are important to us and to serve them well, we need really high-quality service providers. Our agreement with Microsoft ensures we get guaranteed support quickly and access to knowledge in situations where we need it most.”

Dr. Michael Berger, Chief Executive Officer, DocuWare

For more than 30 years, DocuWare has been a leading provider of document management and workflow automation tools. With more than 17,000 businesses and organizations in more than 100 countries depending upon it, reliability is critical.

With the backing of Microsoft Unified, DocuWare can provide the dependability its customers require, while migrating to the cloud to deliver cutting-edge new capabilities that has helped its business grow.

Moving to Azure to drive innovation

DocuWare was founded in 1988 to give all companies access to tools to drive efficiency that much larger businesses used. Its software made it easy for them to organize and keep track of documents and manage certain workflows, like processing invoices.

In those early days the document management was conducted on desktops and local networks, but DocuWare has innovated continuously to give its users the benefits of the latest technology. It was quick to embrace the cloud, freeing its customers to work through mobile and web clients. It also introduced workflows and uses artificial intelligence to drive automations that save its users time.

Its close partnership with Microsoft has been a key element in its evolution.

“In 2014, we moved to Azure and we’ve never looked back,” says DocuWare Chief Executive Officer Michael Berger. “Microsoft technologies have played a great role in our advances.”

Delivering new value to drive business growth

DocuWare continues to bring new advances to its users. Azure provides it with flexibility and a strong foundation to build upon. As the ways of working evolve, DocuWare is using these capabilities as a competitive advantage that make it an industry leader.

“The cloud has enabled us to be really dynamic as our fast-paced business customers demand,” Berger says.

DocuWare has been able to add intelligent indexing, forms, and electronic signatures, among other capabilities that are becoming increasingly important to its customers. On top of the core services that businesses have depended on for decades, it has helped propel DocuWare to 20 percent growth over the past year.

Unified Support helps ensure dependability

While customers know they can count on DocuWare, DocuWare knows that it can count on Microsoft through its Unified Enterprise support agreement.

“Our customers’ businesses are important to us and to serve them well, we need really high-quality service providers,” Berger says. “Our agreement with Microsoft ensures we get guaranteed support quickly and access to knowledge in situations where we need it most.”

DocuWare has found numerous advantages in working directly with Microsoft. First is that it gets answers more quickly by working straight with the experts who built the technology. It’s also able to operate more efficiently. Without having to bring on additional partners, it’s able to streamline management. Finally, the training and other educational resources available through Unified has helped its employees build the skills needed not only to be successful, but to continue innovating.

Building for the future together

DocuWare has come a long way in 35 years and it’s continuing to push the envelope with Microsoft technologies to remain a leader and deliver value for its customers in the years to come. From Power BI to AI, it’s finding ways to use cutting edge tools to deliver results.

“We are proud to be one of Microsoft’s biggest partners,” Berger says. “Our strong relationship helps us to realize many of our goals. Microsoft Unified Support plays an essential role, giving us the tools to help prevent downtime and access product experts whose expertise enable us to quickly resolve any issues that may arise.”
