Dai-ichi Life Vietnam drives new tech adoption for higher productivity, all with Microsoft solutions

Dai-ichi Life, a leading life insurance provider in Vietnam, saw digital transformation as the answer to the changing demands of customers, who require fast, convenient, high-quality, and easy-to-use services. By implementing Microsoft 365 and Azure, Dai-ichi Life achieved increased operational efficiency and enhanced security. The company's new technologies reached a 20 percent adoption rate, streamlining processes and improving customer satisfaction in the process.

Dai-ichi Life, a prominent life insurance provider in Vietnam, is on a mission to help people secure a better future for themselves and their loved ones. To sustain its continual growth, the company realized it needed to streamline its operations. Hence, Dai-ichi Life Vietnam sought a comprehensive solution that would not only elevate its business processes, but also ensure customer satisfaction.

The insurance provider initially faced a lack of a unified platform to manage its operations. As Nhan Huynh, Chief Technology Officer at Dai-ichi Life Insurance, explains, "If we want to improve our processes and performance as well as enhance customer experience, we need to stay ahead with the newest technologies." 

As a company that deals with sensitive customer information, Dai-ichi Life Vietnam also emphasized the importance of maintaining strong security measures. "Security threats have become more intricate,” explains Nhan. “And that’s why we want to make sure that our systems and data are safe and secure for our customers." 

In order to boost productivity, efficiency, and security, the company moved its operations to the cloud.

One solution, multiple capabilities

For Dai-ichi Life, collaborating with Microsoft was key to tackling its business challenges—Microsoft solutions offered system compatibility, integration possibilities, and reliable security. “Microsoft has a solid reputation, and they offer us advanced technology, complete solutions, and excellent support,” says Nhan.

Dai-ichi Life Vietnam selected Microsoft Azure as the backbone of its infrastructure, which covered all its operational needs. “Our applications and services can be deployed and managed in the cloud, which optimizes performance and enhances system reliability. Azure also offers advanced security features and adheres to strict compliance standards,” explains Nhan. 

However, with the implementation came new tools and workflows, which were difficult for some of Dai-ichi Life’s employees to adapt to. To overcome these obstacles, the company supported staff members with training to familiarize themselves with the new technologies. Nhan adds, "Microsoft stayed in touch via phone and email, and helped us with the implementation and use of its products and services. We also got access to a variety of tutorials, learning materials, and training courses to help users learn how to use and optimize solutions." 

Thanks to its efforts to smoothen the transition, more than 20 percent of staff at Dai-ichi Life Vietnam are now using the new Microsoft solutions—and the rate of adoption continues to increase. 

Streamlined processes and increased productivity

With Microsoft's solutions in place, Dai-ichi Life Vietnam experienced significant improvements in productivity. Microsoft 365 E3 and E5 enabled employees to work and interact more efficiently, while Intune enabled remote workers to access company data securely. “We can get and manage information and files from anywhere with an internet connection,” Nhan says. “This provides us with greater flexibility, allowing us to easily scale our operations while equipping remote workers with the tools they need to deliver great work.”  

Additionally, Dai-ichi Life Vietnam used Power Apps to create applications such as the Human Resources Portal, Sales Activity Management, Dai-ichi e-Health for delivering health care at a distance for all employees, and an IT Helpdesk Ticket for managing the team's workload and checking the status of a ticket. These applications meant that departments could build their own customized solutions without requiring extensive coding, further boosting productivity and streamlining operations. 

During the digital transformation, security was also a top priority for Dai-ichi Life Vietnam to safeguard its systems and data and ensure a secure environment for customers. The company gained multilayer protection with Microsoft 365 and effective system monitoring and security management tools with Azure. The combination has empowered Dai-ichi Life to detect and resolve security issues quickly and efficiently. 

With Microsoft's solutions in place, Dai-ichi Life Vietnam also continues to enhance its organization's performance, competitiveness, reduce costs, and improve service quality. “We use Dynamic 365 Finance and Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management to streamline our procurement process,” Nhan says. “In particular, this will impact creating a request, sending a quote, placing an order, receiving goods, and making payments. With this next step, we aim to reduce 99 percent of human errors in the management and approval processes and increase work efficiency. This will greatly improve the customer experience.”

Information that drives future decision-making

In order to monitor the impact of its solutions and scale as needed, Dai-ichi Life Vietnam set key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the outcomes of its transition to cloud solutions. “We track system performance, cost savings, increased productivity, and security compliance. With this information, we can decide to increase or decrease the size of operations according to our needs. This helps optimize costs and avoid having to invest too much in infrastructure and software,” says Nhan.

By leveraging Microsoft's solutions for ongoing growth, Dai-Ichi Life Vietnam continues to consolidate its leadership position in the life insurance industry, ready to provide exceptional services to its customers for the foreseeable future.
