BCP reveals its best version with Microsoft Teams Rooms

BCP was looking to adapt its operations to a hybrid work environment.

BCP deployed Microsoft Teams Rooms as a solution to provide a flexible, secure, and effective work environment.

Enabled by new features, 5,000 monthly meetings were facilitated, ensuring a seamless transition from remote work to a hybrid model. This transition granted autonomy to more than 8,000 employees, allowing them to work more flexibly and efficiently.

Banco de Crédito del Perú (BCP) is a leading financial institution that has been operating for 134 years. Due to the pandemic, BCP faced the challenge of adapting its operations to a hybrid work environment. The strategy for a safe return to office required technology solutions for hybrid meetings that would enable employees to collaborate safely, wherever they are located. "We decided to grant greater autonomy to users in meetings. This resulted in improvements in agility and in the use of floor space by employees,” says Martín Iberico, Infrastructure Manager at BCP.

The intuitive Teams experience was key to make it easier for employees to return from their remote work to a hybrid model.

Strategy Stages

In early 2022, the BCP decided to adopt Microsoft Teams Rooms as a solution to streamline and expand its video conference room service. Among other reasons, the decision was based on the benefits of compatibility and integration with the systems that the bank already had in place (such as Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Teams, which had been widely adopted since 2020).

No training was required; the main goal was to make the user experience intuitive and automated enough to be self-managed. At first, BCP was focused on ensuring business continuity, by integrating the new solution without disrupting its ecosystem. In addition, the bank made sure that the new solution would provide a high level of security, as well as a seamless implementation process and smooth operation to adapt to the changing needs in the work environment.

“We chose Teams Rooms for the videoconferencing room service, which was part of the hybrid work strategy,” says Israel Rojas Carranza, Chapter Lead for End User Platforms at BCP.

An intuitive and friendly solution for employees

In collaboration with Lenovo (a Microsoft partner that played a key role in providing different brands of appliances and integrating them), BCP formulated a proposal based on Microsoft 365, the cloud-based productivity suite. With user feedback, it was possible to optimize Teams Rooms management at a high level.

In addition, both AI Ops services and hardware from Lenovo and Logitech were important to ensure native interoperability with the ecosystem.

For employees, adoption occurred in record time, due to familiarity with the interface. Gorka Treceño, Product Owner of the Productivity Squad at BCP, says, “The intuitive Teams experience was key to make it easier for employees to return from their remote work to a hybrid model.”

By aligning the solution with a modern lifecycle policy we can ensure that our meeting rooms are always up to date, not only with security patches, but also with new resources.

8,000 users, 5,000+ meetings, and hours of video calls

The implementation was so successful that thousands of users benefited from this new technology. "As for employee experience metrics, we got a score of 4.9 out of 5 in the surveys answered by users at the end of the videoconferencing sessions," says Treceño.

Each month, BCP holds more than 5,000 hybrid meetings and hours of video calls in video conference rooms.

140+ meeting rooms implemented

Teams Rooms became the cornerstone of BCP's converged communications strategy. More than 140 meeting rooms are now equipped with this technology, which offers a familiar and intuitive experience.

"By aligning the solution with a modern lifecycle policy we can ensure that our meeting rooms are always up to date, not only with security patches, but also with new resources," says Iohann Velarde, End User Platform Specialist at BCP.

It’s worth mentioning that many hours of support were previously required for videoconferencing sessions to take place. According to Rojas Carranza: "We started with a single on-sitesupport resource for the first 80 rooms, and in the second phase we added another one to provide support for four locations."

The future is flexible

"We are currently exploring additional Teams Rooms peripherals, such as tabletop cameras with IntelliFrame in the cloud, room panels, and whiteboard cameras, to bring those on the other side of the screen even closer," says Velarde.

Thus, BCP continues to invest on a hybrid work strategy for a safe return to the office. And that seems to be the right path; the success achieved so far reflects their commitment to adaptation and flexibility in times of change.
