Brisa upskills employees with Power Automate, unlocking creativity and time savings

Brisa wanted to accelerate business outcomes and streamline processes by ensuring that employees have the skills they need to contribute meaningfully to the company’s ongoing history of innovation.

 

Brisa adopted Microsoft Power Automate and used Microsoft Learn to provide structured learning paths for employees to build essential Power Automate skills.

With 30 Power Automate apps in production, Brisa saves 233 person-days annually, helping employees focus on more strategic initiatives. As Brisa expands its use of Power Automate, these benefits will only increase, fostering a culture of innovation.

Empowering employees to boost business outcomes

Brisa, a mobility leader in the Turkish tire sector with brands like Bridgestone, Lassa, and Dayton, operates in more than 90 countries. Known for its innovation, Brisa aims to evolve beyond tire production. “We want to build on our success as a tire company to become a comprehensive mobility solutions and services provider,” explains Ilker Sahin, IT Director at Brisa. “That will propel our business into the future and maintain our position as a technology pioneer.”

Accelerating Brisa’s business and financial growth depends on the success of its employees, and the company is committed to ensuring all employees feel productive, valuable, and equipped with skills relevant to the 21st-century workplace. “Our goal is to become a skills-based, purpose-driven organization and create the best employee experience,” notes Neslihan Eroğlu, People and Corporate Communication Director at Brisa. “Innovation is part of our DNA, and that’s reflected in our constant drive to improve.”

Powering innovation with low-code automation development

Brisa IT employees were intensively developing robotic process automation (RPA) projects and wanted a solution that would make it easier for employees in other departments to create automation with IT coaching. After evaluating seven potential solutions, Brisa chose Microsoft Power Platform and the AI-powered, low-code development capabilities available in Power Automate.

“We’ve long trusted Microsoft solutions for infrastructure and productivity,” says Gonca Özman Eroğlu, Information Systems Manager at Brisa. “Beyond that, Power Automate is easy to use, works seamlessly with our other Microsoft tools, and we found it promoted a high level of employee engagement, making it the right choice for our environment.”

To encourage adoption of this new Platform Engineering project, Brisa teamed up with Microsoft Türkiye to create its Drive To Future initiative. This has included training; one-on-one coaching from Brisa IT employees Elif Akay and Sena Buse Colak to encourage and support program participantsand a corporate hackathon focused on rapid prototyping with Power Automate. The hackathon winners now serve as peer mentors, helping colleagues master the technology as it scales across the organization. Additionally, Brisa uses Microsoft Learn to provide structured learning paths for employees to build essential Power Automate skills, while the IT department continues to provide adoption and continuity support, working sessions, and tip sharing.

Governance was also crucial. “The Microsoft Power Platform Center of Excellence kit and Control Center module help us monitor and control access to documents and data at all times,” explains Evren Buyer, System and Operation Manager at Brisa.

In total, the Platform Engineering program has produced 40 complete Power Automate projects, and 30 of them have gone into production as of October 2024, handling 4,230 transactions for tasks as varied as SAP report automation and currency exchange rate monitoring. Creators span departments from Logistics to Purchasing to Finance, revealing the power that low-code development offers to unlock creativity across an enterprise.

Transforming the future with automation

Brisa’s implementation of Power Automate has led to significant time savings, with 30 citizen developer applications saving a total of 233 person-days per year by streamlining manual processes and reducing reliance on spreadsheets. This freed-up time allows employees to focus on projects that create new opportunities for Brisa and its customers.

The qualitative impact on employees is equally important. Increased automation means less time spent on repetitive tasks, boosting engagement and motivation. Employees’ new digital skills position them as meaningful contributors to Brisa’s future success.
