About
I lead a mobile incubation team in the Content Services organization, building engaging consumer facing experiences leveraging large-scale data, natural language and computer vision models. Earlier, I worked as a researcher in the area of Mobile Systems and Wireless Networking at Microsoft Research India (opens in new tab). I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Stony Brook University (opens in new tab).
Some of the products my team built and shipped include Bing Snapshots (opens in new tab) and Visual Search (opens in new tab) on Bing & Edge Mobile. In 2020, during the pandemic, we released Microsoft Math Solver (opens in new tab) a mobile experience providing assistance to students and parents at home with ability to scan or ink any math problem. Leveraging transformer based CNN models, image queries are digitized to math expressions and then step-by-step solutions are generated along with links to relevant online video lectures and worksheets related to the problem. In over a year, the experience on the mobile and web has over 3M active global users. We are bringing these learnings from mobile to Windows PC users natively in Edge browser (opens in new tab) and in Teams (opens in new tab) as an extension.
Recently, my team is working on building a compelling mobile shopping experience for Microsoft users by bringing convenience to both in store and online shopping journeys while providing savings through personalized coupons and cashback from product manufacturers, CPGs and retailers.
