About

I started my position of Applied Researcher at MSR Maluuba in October 2017. My background is in Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning, and my current projects at Microsoft are related to computational models of 1) argument convincingness; 2) humor. I also do work in machine reading comprehension, as well as unsupervised representations for multi-token sequences.

Short Biography

Peter was born and raised in San Anselmo, California, just north of San Francisco. He attended undergraduate studies at the University of California at Santa Barbara, where he received degrees in Mathematics and Slavic Languages & Literature, and a Minor in English. He attended graduate school at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where he received a Masters in Mathematics and a PhD in Computer Science. His dissertation focused on deep learning strategies for argument mining.
