Srihari Hulikal Muralidhar

Srihari Hulikal Muralidhar is an ethnographer whose research examines the social organisation of work and workplaces in order to help design novel technologies and tools that leverage and enhance workers’ capabilities and practices. His prior research has spanned areas such as on-demand labour, knowledge work, technology and organisational workflows, hybrid work, remote collaboration, fintech for financial inclusion, and accessibility. He has a strong background in qualitative research methods, with observational and interview-based studies being his forte. He is driven by a desire to help build outstanding digital products and experiences that are relevant, meaningful, engaging, and empowering for customers.

Srihari obtained his M.Sc. and subsequently Ph.D. in Information Science from Aarhus University, Denmark under the supervision of Claus Bossen. In parallel to pursuing Ph.D., he had long-term collaborations with Jacki O’Neill and Apurv Mehra exploring the design and deployment of technologies for underserved, marginalized communities in India. For his paper ‘Rethinking Financial Inclusion: From Access to Autonomy’, which formed the cornerstone of his doctoral research, Srihari won the David B Martin Best Paper Award at European Conference on Computer-Supported Cooperative Work in 2019. He has also collaborated with Siân Lindley. Sean Rintel, and Siddharth Suri on the Future of Work.

Srihari is currently working as a User Experience Researcher at Microsoft India Development Center.
