Overview

In the past fifteen years, the most significant paradigm shift in the computing industry is the migration to cloud computing, which brings unprecedented opportunities of digital transformation to business, society, and human life. The implication of this is profound. It means that cloud computing platforms have become part of the basic infrastructure of the world. Therefore, the non-functional properties of cloud computing platforms, including availability, reliability, performance, efficiency, security, sustainability, etc., become immensely important. The distributed nature, massive scale, and high complexity of cloud computing platforms ranging from storage to networking, computing and beyond present huge challenges to build and operate such systems effectively and efficiently.

Cloud Intelligence/AIOps utilizes AI/ML technologies to build and operate complex cloud platforms and services at scale effectively and efficiently. AIOps has three pillars: AI for systems, AI for customers, and AI for DevOps. The goal of ‘AI for systems’ is to make intelligence a built-in capability to achieve high quality, high efficiency, self-control, and self-adaptation with less human intervention. The goal of ‘AI for customers’ is to leverage AI/ML to create unparallel user experiences and achieve great user satisfaction using cloud services. Lastly, the goal of ‘AI for DevOps’ is to infuse AI/ML into the entire software development lifecycle to achieve high productivity.

We are looking for researchers at different levels in Data Intelligence, which is the interdisciplinary research area of machine learning/deep learning/reinforcement learning, optimization, data mining, recommendation, ML for systems, and NLP algorithms on data.
